My Favorite Ornament

As stated previously, I love the Holiday Season. So, when Missy from the Marketing Mama told me about a blog carnival where everyone writes about a favorite ornament, or holiday item that has meaning to them, I had to hop on.

My personal favorite, are the ornaments I have from our Christmas tree growing up. A set of cloth, stuffed Peanuts characters ornaments that I don't remember ever spending a Christmas without.

I'm not sure when my mom purchased them, but in college when she asked me if I wanted any of the ornaments she was no longer going to use, and I saw these in the pile, I quickly snatched them up.

My husband asked me this year, after seeing me get so excited to place these certain ornaments on the tree each year, why we had cloth ornaments. The only response I could think of was, "probably because my brothers and I were too destructive for anything else??" I suppose that's why people use non-breakable ornaments for a certain point in their life.

They remind me of many fun Christmas Eve's at my parents house, where we would sit around eating taco tip (yes, our Christmas traditions include taco dip) and cookies after going to Christmas Eve mass. They remind me of waking up Christmas morning, as a kid and eating a huge doughnut for breakfast before diving into opening presents. I hope that one day when Ben and I have kids, they'll have a certain item that brings back wonderful memories like these ornaments do for me.

Check out the links below from other area bloggers to see their favorite holiday item! Also, feel free to comment with your favorite holiday memories, I can't wait to hear them. =)

I thought I had my camera to do my favorite ornament, but I don't have it with me today. I had already entered on the blog hop, sorry, so I linked back to your blog on my recent post. And I am going to get back to this tonight.

Some of my favorites are still my cloth ornaments from my childhood. Many were made for me by neighbors of family friends. And I love them.

After we were married, my mother-in-law came over and dropped off my husbands ornaments from when he was growing up. All of them are either stuffed or wooden. I hadn't considered the fact that they were unbreakable because of how destructive my husband and his brother were growing up! Ah-ha!!!!! It's true though, the ornaments that have been with us the longest, are the ones that remind us of the traditions.

That's a great ornament, I love Peanuts! I don't have any ornaments left from my childhood and what I have is pretty generic. I hope to find some fun things later!

Very cool! I honestly don't know if I've seen cloth ornaments before!!! I have a wooden one from my youth that I included in my post today. I think the wood and fabric were maybe more to do iwth the fact that there wasn't as much plastic everywhere back in the olden days. ha ha. This was fun to see - thanks for sharing :)

I think there should be more cloth ornaments in the world. And more Peanuts ones too for that matter!

I have a feeling someday soon I'm going to wish I had a treeful of cloth ornaments rather than the fragile ones we have on our right now. You've inspired me to look for cloth ornaments ... I'm thinking they are not so easy to find.

Hi Alexa!

This ornament is adorable and timeless. I love how something as simple as an ornament can spark such sweet memories. :)
